USB host problems...

Hi - I'm trying to connect a canon ixus 55 camera to the v43 to transfer some pictures. When i connect it and then press the usb host button in the v43 file manager the v43 just says detecting usb devices and stays like that, and the camera freezes until i cancel the scan. If i leave the scan for ages nothing happens.
The camera connects fine to a cowon iaudio 6 for file transfer, so definitely should work.

Any help on how to get it to work?

If not is there a possibility of detection in qtopia?

Hello Prieh,

It reminds me some troubles I've got to connect USB Hard Drives. It was due to a lack of power. I solve that connecting external supply to both V43 and my HD.

Try It. But may be the trouble is Your camera is not supported by v43 ....

Hi - Thanks for the reply. I don't think it is a power problem as it works with the iaudio 6 wihch has much less power than the V43. I gave it a try with everything plugged in anyway and still no connection made.

It's really annoying as it was one of the main reasons i bought the V43!

Any more help would be much appreciated.

if you connect your camera to the pc, do you need a driver?

You can still use the usb host with a card reader by the way...

Hi - The camera doesnt need a driver to connect it to a pc. I think i will have to get a card reader for it to work, unless someone knows how to do usb host in qtopia?

well then should work in big usb port and usb host activated...
if you take a card reader, take the one with the least current consumption

I have the same problem with my camera Sony DSC-W30. And it also doesn't work with RAWThumb. And I had the same problem with my Canon Powershot A95 and my external hard disk.
But with my USB Key, it's ok. It seems that the USB host of V43 is not very good...

In fact every USB host aren't fully compatible with all the peripherals.
I have too experienced some linking that wouldn't work but, as far as I know, it ocurred on my old Archos AV120, on my bro's Archos AV500, but never on my V43...

Well to be honest I don't have much peripherals to link up with my V43.
Though, even my Logitech Wireless Deskset (keyboard + mouse... absolutely useless on V43) is accepted on the V43 and I have a wireless keyboard on it.

Sorry: I didn't try to link the mouse with it.
